NEWPORT, Vt. — Vermont authorities say a farmer angry over his recent arrest drove a large tractor over seven police cruisers parked outside the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department in Newport. No one was injured.

Police say Roger Pion, 34, was taken into custody shortly after the incident Thursday afternoon. Police say Pion was angry after his arrest last month on charges of resisting arrest and marijuana possession.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Phil Brooks tells The Burlington Free Press that Pion crushed more than half the department’s fleet of vehicles: five marked cruisers and two unmarked vehicles, including a transport van.

One person at the scene estimated that the tractor had rear tires that were 15 feet high. The cars appeared to have been destroyed.
