FROM POPEHAT, VIA WRSA.ORG: JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER PLEASE SHUT THE HELL UP!

Just A Friendly Reminder: Please Shut The Hell Up

Law
http://www.popehat.com/2011/03/18/just-a-friendly-reminder-please-shut-the-hell-up/
Imagine this:

It’s a dark and gloomy six in the morning. You’ve just gotten out of bed. You are fuzzy-headed, bleary-eyed, badly in need of coffee. You haven’t showered or dressed. You’re in your underwear, or pajamas.
Suddenly there’s a thunderous pounding on the door, and loud men are shouting something at you. Your heart lurches and the adrenaline jolts you. You open the door, and there is a team of FBI agents, guns prominently displayed in holsters, raid jackets open. They are large and aggressive and unfriendly. They tell you they have a search warrant for your home and push past you. Two of them grab you, bodily turn you around, and handcuff you. They’ll say later they had to do that to secure the scene and assure agent safety, and that you totally weren’t in custody or anything.

Two agents take you outside to your driveway in your pajamas or underwear. At this point your neighbors are beginning to peek curiously out of their windows. The agents push you into the back seat of a G-ride — a late-model American made sedan that smells of air freshener and despair. The two agents sit on either side of you in the back seat; a third agent climbs into the front seat. You shift uncomfortably, trying to avoid sitting on your handcuffed hands. But there’s no way to get comfortable sitting in your underwear in the back of a G-ride with your hands cuffed behind you.

The agents begin to question you about your business dealings. They don’t read you your rights first — they’ll say later they didn’t have to, because you totally weren’t in custody, despite being handcuffed in the back of a G-ride in your underwear surrounded by FBI agents in raid jackets. The agents tag-team you, switch topics rapidly, play good-cop-bad-cop, and use every law enforcement rhetorical trick to intimidate you. We have some really serious questions here, they say. But if you just cooperate, maybe we can clear all of this up.

(note: DMCA-whatever snip mandated by blogger.com because the author wet himself that someone reposted his article... in his name with a link to his site.)

After a few uncomfortable hours, the agents uncuff you, pull you out of the car, and hand you an incomplete, inaccurate, and illegible receipt purporting to state what they’ve taken. They haul off boxes of documents, disks, disk drives, and whatever else catches their fancy. They’ll see you soon, they say.

And, relatively speaking, they do. Six months later you are indicted. You’re indicted not only for whatever matter the FBI was investigating. As a kicker, you’re also indicted under 18 U.S.C. section 1001 for lying to the FBI. That’s a felony. Your lawyer reviews the discovery, and tells you that when the FBI agents asked you whether you were at that meeting two years ago with Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones, they already knew the answer to the question. Mr. Jones recorded the meeting and is cooperating with the FBI, and they had two other witnesses who placed you there. There was no chance whatsoever that your denial — whether it was a panic-induced brain fart, or a failure of memory, or a lie — could have misled or deterred the FBI in its investigation for even a moment. But that doesn’t matter. Though materiality is an element of Section 1001, it’s a weak, diluted type of materiality. Statements to the government are deemed material if they are the sort of statements that have the capacity to influence it. Courts have come very close to creating a presumption of materiality by reasoning that if the information were not material the government would not have asked for it and you wouldn’t have offered it. There was a time when most prosecutors thought it was chickenshit to charge someone with a felony for an exculpatory denial of wrongdoing that never fooled anyone; that time is in the past.

So. By failing to shut the fuck up, you have just handed the feds a gimme felony charge that will make your case much more difficult to defend.

When the authorities ask you questions, they are not out to “clear this thing up so we can let you go.” They are not your friends. They do not want to help. They are very likely not trying to learn anything or discover anything. They are trying to make, or improve, a case against you. They are hoping that you will fall into their trap. They may be trying to make a weak case strong or turn a lesser charge into a greater one.

(note: second DMCA-whatever snip mandated by blogger.com because the author wet himself that someone reposted his article... in his name with a link to his site.  God did you actually spend time and money whining about someone who gave props to your advice?)
Don’t be a fool. If there’s a chance that cooperation will satisfy the authorities today, there will still be a chance in a day or a week or a month after you’ve consulted a lawyer who understands the situation. When you answer law enforcements’ questions — especially when you do it in a stressful situation like a search — you take grave risks of substantially worsening your situation. You may say, “oh, but I won’t lie.” Sure. But can you be sure, sitting cuffed in your underwear at six in the morning in that G-ride, that you will remember events from years ago accurately? Are you sure you won’t be confused and muddled under the circumstances? Are you sure that the government won’t — fueled by claims by cooperators — believe that you’ve lied? Do you really think that if you misremember or mix up events in your head or if your memory is different than the story of a cooperator, that the government is going to give you the benefit of the doubt?
Don’t be a fool. Invoke. For God’s sake, just shut up.

(I'm not the loser, I didn't cry to a pack of bureaucratic jackals and spend money and time for your precious fucking "copyright".  God you're a fucking fool Ken.)

READER SENT NATURAL NEWS ALERTS ON THE FUKUSHIMA MELTDOWN

Thanks, ________!

NaturalNews Insider Alert ( www.NaturalNews.com ) email newsletter
(Unsubscribe instructions at bottom)
Dear NaturalNews readers,
The United Nations has now confirmed that a radioactive plume will reach California by Friday (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/science/17plume.html?_r=1).
Fortunately, this is calculated to be a very small level of radiation that officially poses no real health risk -- but that won't be true if Fukushima goes into a fuel rod meltdown (which could happen in the next 2 days).
Because of all this, there has been a run on nearly all iodine sources across North America, Australia and Asia. Price-gouging is now rampant. Some people are getting really scared.
We're trying to bring some calm to this situation and assure people they can still get iodine from lots of natural sources such as seaweeds. And for minor exposures to radiation, there are cleansing superfoods such as chlorella and spirulina that have been used as far back as World War II to help clear radiation exposure and quickly flush radioactive substances from the body.
Today I've posted a full inventory status update on what we have right now at the NaturalNews Store that contains natural iodine or chlorella. See the full list here:
http://www.naturalnews.com/031730_iodine_radiation_poisoning.html
We are committed to helping those in need during this crisis. We do not engage in price gouging. A large percentage of all net proceeds from our radiation-related products is being donated to Japan through the Tzu Chi Foundation. (Our previous pledge of $5,000 is now much larger and we will announce the new donation pledges shortly...)

The world food supply is now threatened by a massive radiation release from the Fukushima nuclear power plant complex:

NaturalNews Insider Alert ( www.NaturalNews.com ) - please forward
The New York Times report that a radiation plume will reach California by Friday has a lot of people asking us for more information about what to do. (See http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/science/17plume.html?_r=1)
Fortunately, the amount of radiation that would actually fall on California (or Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, etc.) is currently very small. Too small to pose a serious health risk for right now.
The time to get really concerned is if -- and only if -- the Fukushima reactors suffer a fuel rod "meltdown" event which would release a massive amount of radiation into the atmosphere. The United Nations has calculated that such an event would send a cloud of very powerful radiation headed eastward, arriving on the shores of the United States and Canada within 2-3 days after the meltdown, depending on wind patterns.
Importantly, this will give you some time to take action should such an event occur. The next 24 - 48 hours are crucial in Japan's effort to stop the nuclear fuel rod meltdown. It is entirely unknown whether Japan can succeed in stopping it. The situation remains dire.
If you live in the western states or provinces of North America, it is extremely important to be prepared by taking the following actions RIGHT NOW:
1) Fuel up your vehicle(s) and be ready to hit the road for a possible evacuation (or hunker down if you're out in the country and feel like you would be safer there).
2) If you plan to stay put, go to the hardware store TODAY and buy large amounts of plastic and duct tape to seal up your windows and doors. This will help protect you from radioactive fallout. You will also need to store water, food, and all the usual emergency supplies because outside help probably won't be available.
3) If you plan to evacuate, have a "Go Bag" ready to go at a moment's notice. This go bag should include a water filter, emergency radio, flashlight, duct tape, emergency knife, spare cash, whatever medical supplies you might need, extra food and water, spare fuel cans and so on. Have it ready now in case you need it.
4) Significantly increase your intake of iodine-containing foods and superfoods starting right now: Seaweeds are a great source. We've listed our entire inventory of what we have available at our store (http://www.naturalnews.com/031730_iodine_radiation_poisoning.html), but I would actually prefer you to go out and get this locally TODAY at your local health food stores, where possible. You may not have time to wait on a UPS delivery. Fortunately, our store ships from Ojai, California, meaning that if you order foods from us today that are in stock, and you're in California, you could receive them very, very quickly (within 1-2 business days).
5) If you have potassium iodide pills (radiation pills), don't take them yet. Keep them ready to take if and only if a meltdown event occurs and a massive dose of radiation has been released into the atmosphere.
6) Have a plan for you and your family. Where will you meet if you need to evacuate? Don't count on cell phones working. Have a plan of where to go, how to get there and how to survive once you get there.
Hopefully none of this will be necessary. If they can stop the meltdown at Fukushima, there is virtually no real radiation risk in North America. That's the outcome we're all hoping and praying for.
But if a meltdown takes place, it is almost certain that strong winds will push a massive radiation cloud right into North America within a matter of days, potentially dropping a highly dangerous amount of radioactive material on California or other regions. That's the scenario that we all need to be prepared to guard against.
Do not rely on your government to tell you the truth about what's happening. Governments are in the business of "preventing panic" by withholding information you need to know. Governments believe that if too many people know the truth, it might start a panic, and even more people could die in the panic than from the event itself. They may actually be correct at some level on that, but I believe that people have a right to know what's really going on. And the sober, shocking truth of the matter is that as of right now, our world is facing an unprecedented nuclear meltdown event that could dwarf the Chernobyl catastrophe of 1987. We're talking about as many as 600,000 spent fuel rods which are now threatened by fires and loss of cooling fluids. This is not a set of circumstances to be taken lightly.
I urge all NaturalNews readers to take this seriously. Get prepared now. Get your go bag ready just in case. Start boosting your natural iodine intake TODAY. Be ready to head out of Dodge if you're in a geographic area that could be impacted. And then watch the news on this to stay informed (and read NaturalNews for an honest analysis of the situation).
Another thing: If a meltdown does occur and an evacuation is announced for parts of the west coast of North America, you will need to be one of the first to head out if you expect to get out at all. The highways around Los Angeles in particular do not have the capacity to handle a mass evacuation. They barely have the capacity to handle rush hour! Imagine what happens if half the people in L.A. try to leave all at the same time... that will be a week-long traffic jam, and people will run out of gas on the highways, abandon their vehicles, and make the highways impassable.
I don't mean to paint this as a worst-case scenario, but I'm trying to give you an accurate description of what might realistically happen if a radiation cloud is headed toward LA and an evacuation effort is announced. If you aren't out of LA by the time the government announces an evacuation, you're probably too late.
This is actually a good time to own a Prius because a Prius can idle without the engine running and use virtually no gas. A Prius is a great getaway vehicle for jammed evacuation highways where traffic is barely moving.
Be safe and be smart about all this. Think ahead. Get real about what might unfold if a meltdown occurs. This is a time to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming and start thinking seriously about what you can do to protect yourself and your family. It's better to be prepared than to be caught by the unexpected.
We are lucky in one sense right now because we have forewarning of all this. There is time right now to take preparedness steps to deal with a meltdown event should one occur. I strongly advise all NaturalNews readers to use this time wisely and get squared away for what might be coming.
Watch NaturalNews.com for more updates throughout the day. We'll be posting stories at an increased frequency during this Fukushima catastrophe to help bring people information more rapidly.

Thank you and stay safe,

SIPSEY STREET: Praxis: Joint Task Force raids. Feds confirm new template in Alaska -- the Hutaree SOP.

Praxis: Joint Task Force raids. Feds confirm new template in Alaska -- the Hutaree SOP.

Hutaree raid staging area.

From a reader in Alaska:

Heard the feds brought in over 80 guys with snipers and state troopers SRT teams for all over the state and Fairbanks swat team. Hit them all about 3pm. They didn't like the fact that Mr. Cox threatened the chief trooper, his 2nd, state and federal judges. They knew he had full-autos and explosives. About half the feds are gone but they are still here in force pulling on strings with more arrests to follow. I was told that the feds want to make a point with Cox. They brought in so many because they thought if they didn't hit hard and get it over in a hurry and if it turned into a gunfight that Fairbanks wouldn't put up with a waco. I was told that most of the troops were for that purpose and that's way they had roadblocks up. And more than one ring of them out to about 2 1/2 miles away. They ran off everyone, news crews and locals who lived in the area, had their guns up and searched a few of the locals cars at gunpoint.

I was told they had someone on the inside shut down the cell towers and land lines.

Mike, what do you think,? Have you heard anything about it in the states?

My reply:

That's the same pattern they used in the Michigan busts of the Hutaree. The rings are Feds on the inside, staties in the middle, locals on the outside. What they're worried about is getting hit in the rear by friends of the targets so why not let the locals absorb casualties, if any? That is what being the King's Forces gets you. Let the native constabulary do the dying to protect your predatory ass. That works as long as the targets are "low-hanging fruits" like Cox or the Hutaree as one of my sources calls them sardonically. Anybody with friends in law enforcement is going to get warned, despite their OpSec precautions. That is the weakness of the "joint task force" idea. It is a great force multiplier for them but sucks for operational security. One day they'll pick on the wrong bunch and the dead on both sides will lie in heaps and a war will start. Not that they think that far ahead.

Hutaree raid staging area.

...Of course the best defense against this is not to live at the place you put on your identifying documents, or anything else.  If you can arrange this-which means either living under a corporate shell or completely anonymously.

Anything else, either have a escape plan w/ place to land or make your peace with God.

SIPSEY STREET: THE 1000 DOLLAR SHOTGUN TOTING FUDDS OF THE NRA SILENT ON ATF ARMING MURDEROUS DRUG CARTELS

NRA AWOL: "Attack" of the gunweenies. Wayne LaPierre dances around the Gunwalker scandal subject in public, averting his eyes and stilling his tongue.

Wayne LaPierre, confronted with the Gunwalker scandal, reacts poorly.

So, the radio show went well, I thought.

My fellow guest (to my surprise) was Jeff Knox, and together we did a good job, I thought. We differed on one thing, though.

Jeff, having shaken the NRA bush himself, concludes that the Lairds are indeed serious about pursuing Gunwalker. So, too, it seems is CCRKBA's John Snyder who is fulsome in his praise of Lamar Smith.

Whatever. I stand by my sources in my essay of yesterday. I still think that at some level the fix is in.

As one of my sources observed: "Right after we talked earlier one of the (NRA) players was in a debate on FOX about guns and ATF and never even mentioned Gunwalker."

How do you do that, exactly? Unless, of course, you're trying to avoid the subject. Here's the "player" at work:

\

Why would you leave your biggest weapon in the holster and unmentioned? Why does he sound so ineffectual and defensive? The Gunwalker scandal gives him the biggest weapon ever devised to discredit the entire scheme of federal firearms control and he doesn't use it? Why? Why doesn't he just say from the jump that "the President's proposals further empower the ATF and until we get to the bottom of what really happened with the Project Gunwalker scandal, any other discussions are pointless"?

Unless the fix is in.

Kabuki theater indeed.

The NRA Lairds of Fairfax know that other folks are watching, however. The New York Times reports here that "N.R.A. Declines to Meet With Obama on Gun Policy."

WASHINGTON — More than two months after the Tucson shootings, the administration is calling together both the gun lobby and gun safety groups to find common ground. But President Obama has no plans to take the lead in proposing further gun control legislation, aides say, and the nation’s major gun rights group is snubbing the invitation.

On Tuesday, officials at the Justice Department will meet with gun control advocates in the first of what will be a series of meetings over the next two weeks with people on different sides of the issue, including law enforcement, retailers and manufacturers, to seek agreement on possible legislative or administrative actions.

The effort follows Mr. Obama’s call, in a column on Sunday in a Tucson newspaper, to put aside “stale policy debates” and begin “a new discussion” on ways to better enforce and strengthen existing laws to keep mentally unstable, violent and criminal people from getting guns.

But the National Rifle Association, for decades the most formidable force against proposals to limit gun sales or ownership, is refusing to join the discussion — possibly dooming it from the start, given the lobby’s clout with both parties in Congress. Administration officials had indicated they expected that the group would be represented at a meeting, perhaps on Friday.

This tracks with the rumors floated before yesterday. The NRA, like SAAMI and NSSF, was going to participate in a new Munich Conference on firearms. But in this case Neville Chamberlain decided, apparently at the last minute, not to sit down to negotiate other people's surrender.

“Why should I or the N.R.A. go sit down with a group of people that have spent a lifetime trying to destroy the Second Amendment in the United States?” said Wayne LaPierre, the longtime chief executive of the National Rifle Association.

He named Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has almost no role in gun-related policies, and Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.

Here again, in smarmy NYT-speak, is one of the effects of ignoring the Gunwalker scandal, for Hillary sure as hell was hip-deep in foreign policy aspects of that monstrous policy. But how can she be indicted without mentioning that little fact?

Why should he go? Wayne asks. I'll tell you why. To take the fight to the enemy on his own ground, to rhetorically "slap his jaws and force him to resent it" in the words of Nathan Bedford Forrest, to rock him back on his narrow-assed manipulative heels.

Now if it were me (and the chances of me becoming a Laird of Fairfax are something approaching less than zero) I'd walk boldly into meeting, and blow it up at the first sentence I got to speak with the declaration above: "Mr. President, your proposals further empower the ATF and until we get to the bottom of what really happened with the Project Gunwalker scandal, any other discussions are pointless." Then I would get up and walk out. And that would be the headline in the next day's newspapers.

But then that would be the act of a leader, not a compromised gunweenie. Even the NYT picks up on how unprincipled LaPierre's stand is:

“It shouldn’t be a dialogue about guns; it really should be a dialogue about dangerous people,” Mr. LaPierre said, adding that his group has supported proposals to prevent gun sales to the mentally ill, strengthen a national system of background checks and spur states to provide needed data.

Despite his opposition to joining the administration’s table, by his comments in an interview Mr. LaPierre sounded at times like the White House.

Indeed he did and indeed he does.

GOA's Larry Pratt, in contrast, brings up Gunwalker every chance he gets. Remember his contentious bout with Megyn Kelly? Indeed. Let's see that footage again:

That's what an interview looks like with a real leader who is on message and unafraid.

Wayne LaPierre comes out of the closet: "Yes, I'm a gunweenie! Okay? I admit it! So, there!"

No wonder LaPierre hides from the Gunwalker scandal. He might actually have to DO something for all those bucks the NRA membership pays him to represent their interests. You almost have to wonder what pictures Obama and his minions have of LaPierre. Fun with farm animals? Or just Chris Cox?

I'll believe that LaPierre and the NRA are serious about the Gunwalker scandal when they insist that any future campaign dollars will only go to national legislators who demand hearings now.

Everything else is just kabuki theater for the credulous and gullible Fudds in the cheap seats.

Until then, it is just the same old NRA weeniemobile, shuttling around, avoiding the issue.

COMMENT:

Unless there's a mass street level viral campaign to shame the thousand dollar skeet shotgun shooting Elmer Fudds of the NRA about their complicity with ARMING THE MURDERERS OF AMERICAN BORDER PATROL AGENTS WITH ARMS STOLEN FROM PEACEABLE AMERICANS UNDER THE FLIMSIEST OF PRETEXTES BY THEIR WORST FOES THE BATFE... then the Gunwalker Scandal WILL be swept under the rug.

Make videos, picket and protest the traitors at the NRA.  Be brave and vocal and SHAME any thousand dollar skeet shotgun shooter who puts on the official NRA Fudd hunting cap and goes along with their silent consent to the MURDERS of AMERICANS.

Bring up the slain blood.  Bring up the dead bodies.  Bring up the dead of both Americans and Mexicans-people already victimized by their government and ruling class into abject poverty who live in constant terror of being randomly tortured and murdered.

SHAME THEM.  Take your video cameras, make like you're a Fudd until you get into Wayne LaPierre's fat face and then you ask why he supports the continued arming of murderers of Border Patrol Agents and Americans jet skiiing.

Call in to Fox, CNN, MSBNC, CSPAN.  Call all their shows, act like a brainless cheerleader of whatever political leaning that particular network has, then when you get on the air, AMBUSH!

It would be wise to reach out to the Latino community in America, let them know just how their psychotic criminals are being armed by the psychotic criminals at ATF.  Blood is blood, and those who want to sweep this under the rug need to have their collective noses rammed into their racist indifference they give license to.

WE have to get the word out on the attempt to sweep the Gunwalker Scandal under the rug.

DEADLY RADIOACTIVE WINDS-JAPAN'S LAST IMPORT

Given the overall status of the global economy, the triple blow of 9+ magnitude earthquake, tsunami, and three blown nuclear reactors has caused the Nikkei to plunge 10 percent.  This alone is going to set back the Japanese economy by decades as they struggle to even finance reconstruction-but they got more immediate problems:
http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/World/20110315/japan-tsunami-earthquake-death-toll-110315/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/8382504/Japan-earthquake-panic-in-Tokyo-as-radiation-spreads.html
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1366341/Japan-tsumani-earthquake-America-nuclear-accident-radiation-alert.html

Deadly radioactive winds from Japan, from the blown Fukushima reactors, are going to start hitting the Western USA.  No they haven't stopped the radiation-it's actually getting worse:

Were there to be a significant release of radiation, tracking the fallout would become a meteorological problem.
Japan lies in the mid latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, as does the United States. Likewise, its weather is dominated by prevailing westerly winds, but with significant variation near the earth surface.
Exactly where a hypothetical "radiation cloud", from either Fukushima Daiichi or Onagawa, would go should depend upon the weather pattern at the time of, and following, the release.

Moreover, it should depend upon how high the cloud rose into the atmosphere. This is because the winds normally vary widely between the near-surface and the upper atmosphere, home to the eastward-flowing jet stream.  MORE AT: http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/story/46984/japan-nuclear-incident-and-the.asp%CA

Well, I was kind of hoping the stream would peter out at the Rockies but according to http://www.rense.com/general93/fef.htm

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1365781/Japan-earthquake-tsunami-Second-explosion-rips-nuclear-plant.html

Greenhouse agriculture might become en vogue even faster than I thought.  Given how wonky the Earth's magnetic fields have become this might be one sliver of a silver lining in this radioactive cloud...
Meanwhile, Potassium Iodide is being cleaned off the shelves as those with at least two functioning brain cells figure out they could be irradiated...
...However, the Japanese used MOX fuel-a mixture of enriched uranium and plutonium-iodide will NOT block plutonium.
There's a lot of blame shifting going on-even Japanese honor has its limits: http://www.rense.com/general93/cov.htm

SIPSEY STREET: NRA SELLS OUT ON BATFAGGOTS ARMING DRUG CARTELS WITH GUNS THEY STOLE FROM PEACEABLE AMERICANS

IF THE ENEMY CAN GET AWAY WITH BURYING THE GUNWALKER SCANDAL THEN GRADUAL GUN CONTROL AND CONFISCATION IS INEVITABLE.

CALL Your congresscritter, the NRA, whoever, to keep the Gunwalker Scandal, the arming of murdering Mexican drug cartels by the BATFE-WITH OUR GUNS!  Guns they stole from innocent, law abiding, peaceable Americans-your Fellow Americans-over some stupid constitution-violating pretext.

Read: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2011/03/they-really-think-they-can-get-away.html

They really think they can get away with this in the face of the Gunwalker Scandal. Ask yourself why they are so confident. THE FIX IS IN.

The NRA weeniemobilers are fixin' to give you the whole foot-long, firearm owners, right where the sun don't shine. Which is something they know quite a bit about.

"Obama Administration To Hold Gun Policy Meetings With Goal Of Policy Changes."

Read the article and then my comments at the other end.

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration has conducted informal discussions with groups from both ends of the gun-policy spectrum, including law enforcement and gun-rights organizations, and is set to hold formal meetings as early as this week in an effort to chart out a set of new firearms policies, administration officials say.

Spearheaded by the Department of Justice, the talks were described by one individual involved in the discussions as a “feeling-out process.” With more official meetings set to begin shortly, they provide the clearest indication to date that the White House is readying a response to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and 19 others at Tucson in early January.

“As the president said, we should focus on sound, effective steps that will keep guns out of the hands of the criminals, fugitives, people with serious mental illness, and others who have no business possessing a gun and who are prohibited by laws on the books from owning a gun,” Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller said. “We will be meeting with stakeholders on all sides of the issue to discuss how we can find sensible, intelligent ways to make the country safer.”

The goal is to finalize a set of policy changes, including, perhaps, legislation that could pass through a Congress hostile to abridgments of Second Amendment rights. The last serious bite at the apple occurred following the shootings at Virginia Tech in April 2007.

In a Sunday op-ed for the Arizona Daily Star, President Barack Obama called for a three-pronged approach: enforcing the laws already on the books, including the National Instant Criminal Background Check System; pushing for greater state-to-state coordination; and expediting background checks and the release of relevant data.

“It was a promising sign that the president understands that 86 percent of the public, including around 80 percent of gun owners, think that a simple background check for every purchase includes next to zero burden for law-abiding citizens and can save countless live,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of the coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

The contours laid out in the op-ed are similar to the plan currently being pushed by MAIG and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Schumer, who has also been in touch with DOJ officials, held a press conference with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg several weeks ago announcing plans to beef up the national background-check system, including eliminating a loophole that allows individuals to buy firearms at gun shows without submitting to a background check.

Though official talks have not yet begun, the Obama administration is expected to aim mostly at such low-hanging fruit, leaving issues like the legality of the high-capacity magazine -- which allows even pistols to fire more than 30 shots without reloading, and was used in the Tucson shootings in January -- to remain unaddressed for the time being. The principal debate, then, will likely center around the application of background-check standards to private dealers.

“They have been meeting with us and also with law enforcement groups and industry,” one gun-control advocate said of the administration. “This is what the White House does when they want to put a serious legislative apparatus together ... The game now becomes effectively demonstrating, in a way that is meaningful, what we know is the overwhelming support for universal background checks.”

"The principal debate, then, will likely center around the application of background-check standards to private dealers."

Get that? "Private dealers," as in individuals, as in YOU AND ME. They are grabbing at the "gun show loophole" again, which is to say you or I couldn't give an heirloom to our kids or grandkids without the government's permission IN ADVANCE. It is a grab to control THE ENTIRE PRIVATE SALE OF FIREARMS. Not even King George III was so grasping!

“We will be meeting with stakeholders on all sides of the issue to discuss how we can find sensible, intelligent ways to make the country safer.”

Translation: We're going to do a deal with the Lairds of Fairfax (the NRA) to sell out the "radicals" in order to comfort the Fudds.

Now things about the Project Gunwalker Scandal are starting to become clearer.

First, they intend to go ahead with the conspiracy to subvert the Second Amendment regardless of the headlines.

And why would they think that they can get away with that?

Because my friends, the fix is in. It is in with LaPierre, Cox and Company and it is, by extension, in with the GOP leadership.

Kabuki Theater.

Kabuki (歌舞伎, kabuki?) is classical Japanese dance-drama. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate make-up worn by some of its performers.

The individual kanji characters, from left to right, mean sing (歌), dance (舞), and skill (伎). Kabuki is therefore sometimes translated as "the art of singing and dancing." -- Wikipedia.

Let me tell you about some phone calls I've been getting lately. Some have been from people on, or close, to the NRA board. Some have been from citizens working the House committee members on the Issa and Smith committees, pressing for early hearings. Let me sum up what they say:

The GOP leadership is loathe to push the Project Gunwalker scandal hearings. Said one congresscritter to someone he thought was sympathetic, "We don't want to be enemies with the ATF." Issa and Smith are both said to be disinterested.

How could that be, you ask, when Smith just sent that demand letter to ATF? Remember he only did it because the NRA was calling for hearings. And why did the NRA call for hearings?

From two sources on or near the NRA board:

"The NRA is doing this just to say that they did. The same goes for Lamar Smith and Issa. After the CBS stories they had to do SOMETHING. LaPierre tried to stay out of it, but he felt the push from below by board members and regular membership, especially some of our law enforcement members."

"LaPierre and Cox had to be dragged kicking and screaming to issuing the demand for hearings, BUT THEY DON'T MEAN A DAMN BIT OF IT. It is all kabuki theater. Everybody knows how this is going to end if they have their way."

So, dear friends, once more the fix is in and the signatures at the bottom of the sellout document are the NRA's and the GOP's. It is all kabuki theater designed to make you think they are doing something when in fact the end of the play is already scripted and the people screwed at the ringing down of the curtain are American firearm owners.

This doesn't mean that it is a done deal. What it means is that we need more of that "push from below" that the Lairds of Fairfax are so afraid of.

"Nothing concentrates the mind so wonderfully as the prospect of being hung in the morning." -- Attributed to Ben Franklin.

Here's what ought to be demanded of the NRA: In order to "concentrate the minds" of Issa, Smith and Company, the NRA ought to make both Project Gunwalker investigative hearings and general ATF oversight hearings part of the grade for politicos they are so fond of waving in people's faces. Vote for hearings or get an "F". Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Tell them you don't believe what they say, you will only believe what they DO.

The NRA is having board elections shortly. The same pledge should be extracted from every mother's son and daughter who wants to be on the board.

This is doable. The fix may be in at the moment, but it can be "unfixed." Whether it is or not is entirely up to you.

But I guarantee you one thing. This entire citizen disarmament by a thousand slices crap will evaporate by the end of the first day of Project Gunwalker scandal hearings in the House.

These are the stakes, literally. More infringements on your God-given, natural and inalienable rights, or Gunwalker hearings that will put a stake in this Dracula plot's citizen disarmament heart.

So I suggest that if you don't want to be forced into becoming a federal criminal when you just want to will your grandkid a firearm without asking the government's permission -- if you don't want to have to shoot back at these tyrannical bastards with the passage of the next federal gun law that makes you a criminal -- that you motivate the sell-out NRA weenies and the do-nothing Stupid Party "leadership" NOW into doing what they claim to do, and being what they claim to be.

Otherwise, the fix is in. Obama knows it, or he wouldn't be pushing this now.

Your move, firearm owners of America.

Your move.
