American Deer Hunters: An Effective Fighting Force?
The
debate on whether all the deer hunters in this country would make an
unbeatable guerrilla fighting force continues.
If you're late to the party, as I am, here's a recap:
The debate started with Oleg Volk's post, The Mis-Directed Fetish of
Marksmanship in which he questions their ability to fight against a well
trained regular fighting force and be effective.

Video: Dog Shot By Omaha Police Officer
Here
we go again.
Whether it's tazing a 10 year old, or conducting illegal rectal exams,
or killing an innocent person on a raid in the wrong house, it seems
that the thing cops enjoy most is killing dogs.
An Omaha police officer shot and killed a dog on a public sidewalk.
The officer’s report claims the shooting was justified; however, the
owners call the incident an execution of a

Intellectual Honesty
Are you Intellectually Honest?
If you spent 20 years in the congregation of Rev. Wright, would you disavow
the man and his ideals when politically convenient? If you stood with a
man who claims to be an honest and Godly man, yet you discover he is a
liar, would you still stand with him? More: You discover that he is a liar
for self-aggrandizement and egotistical reasons.
Honesty is one of those core values that is not negotiable in my world. Of
course there are a few caveats. Lying to protect an operation or an ally
is justifiable. Fibbing to your wife about the skirt with t... more »
Justice Under Alfred
Under the law of Alfred the Great, coiners who debased the currency were
subject to having their hand nailed to their front door.
Of course, that was way back then...
...way back when the rulers of the land recognized that to debase the
currency was to, in effect,
...steal a man's labor,
...his irreplaceable time, and therefore...
The theft of his very life.
Yeah. That was way back then.
We're much more civilized now.
Right?
Vehicle Repairs (Pic Heavy)
The other night, I went to change out spark plugs.
The Ford Triton engine in my Expedition has a new style of spark plug, a
two-piece plug that takes a nonstandard 9/16" socket.
The problem with these is that they have a history of coming apart.
Most shops I have contacted won't mess with these plugs under a "tune-up"
deal- they break too often. So I had a choice- get the truck to a shop for
repair at $80/hour, or buy the tool made specifically for this problem and
do it myself.
So I bought the tool, the Lisle (LIS65600) Broken Spark Plug Remover for
Ford Triton 3 Valve Engines.

Cop Tazes 10-Year-Old Boy For Refusing To Clean Patrol Car
Still think cops are there to serve in the interest of public safety?
Yeah, yeah...it was just one cop. Don't paint the entire profession with a broad brush based on a few bad apples you say.
Well in case you haven't been paying attention lately, it seems that the bad apples out number the good ones these days.

Elections to be postponed? Not so much...
Politico floated a balloon today about postponing the elections.
I suspect the balloon was designed to see who would balk. An ink pack
squirted into the water to see where the dye ends up.
Here in my neighborhood, we escaped with no damage, a few limbs down. In
the greater DC area it is mostly power failures. New Jersey and New York
were hit hardest. Pennsylvania is the only state with any electoral
significance, and a delay only helps the Rs.
So, ask yourself who would benefit from a delay at the national level if
voting were suspended. Most of the country understands that b... more »

Pilgrim's Pride: Guest Post
*The following was received in the comments on this post from Pilgrim's
Pride.*
*I feel it warrants a "guest post" all on its own. It is the most
convincing argument I have heard thus far, or perhaps the most convincing
presentation of an argument I have seen in various forms.*
*
It is worth more than a little consideration.*

This is what happens when a people are disorganized and "the right" is
about as disorganized as possible.
Strike that: we are thoroughly organized. Organized right out of mankind
and into a well-oiled machine of Sheople and cogs.
But I digress.

Race in the 2012 Campaign
*(Yes, I realize that, as a white man, speaking about race in the way I am
here carries with it the risk of getting the label "Wacist" attached to me.
I am fine with that, but as a rebuttal, I point to the plethora of
mainstream media articles that are saying similar things, written by Blacks
and Hispanics. It is a hypocritical and racist society that allows some
races to speak about racial injustices, but not others. I refuse to be
cowed by such a society's arbitrarily assigned, and therefore completely
worthless, stigmas. Take that as you wish.)*

PJB is a Hope-and-Changer
And now Pat Buchanan is a hope-and-changer.
I read that article as a critique of Obama, and a list of unrealistic
expectations that PJB wishes Romney would live up to.
With no evidence whatsoever that Romney is going to quit being a
collectivist anytime soon, I find it very hard to share PJB's optimism. In
fact, I do not believe optimism is the right word.
I'd say its more like fantasy.

When a Man reveals who he is, believe him...
If you run a blog or comment frequently, your true nature will be revealed
at some point.
A lesson more Patriots need to learn *and apply* is that not everyone who
calls himself a "Patriot" or "Liberty" advocate is to be counted as an ally
and entrusted with your life.
I'm not going to write a long essay on the topic. I already know the
lesson. I know who I am. I know what I am and of what I am capable. I
know what is beyond my reach. I know where I am going. When a man reveals
his true self and I find it contrary to my ideals or goals I move on, and
that man is no longer a... more »
Outdated Napoleonic Tactics? There Are Applications...
Example above of the refused flank, used on the offensive. Also known as
the oblique order.
There's a defensive application to refusing the flank as well, used when
one is in danger of being flanked.
Chamberlain used it on Little Round Top to defeat the utterly dehydrated
and exhausted 15th and 47th Alabama regiments who charged up that hill
umpteen times.
I've ran up that hill in July in full wool uniform, carrying an 1863 combat
load. It's *not* fun.
Here is what he did. Look at the left flank of the blue (Federal) lines.
That very last crooked line represents the 20th Main... more »

Praxis: Suspenders.
*From a regular reader:*
*About a year ago you ran a Praxis on military pants suspenders. In
response I bought two pairs at $9 @ and used one pair at work. They were
everything the praxis said, but recently one of the straps tore. I went
looking for a more available substitute and found one, and it was cheaper.
This may be useful for anyone unable to find the GI originals.
Walmart carries suspenders under the George brand at $6.50 @. There are two
styles, one where the crossover is sewn and another where it passes through
a triangular buckle that permits you to adjust the location... more »
